Trademark Services

For founders and businesses naming a company, product or service. We help you check whether a name or logo is likely to be available and registrable before you invest in it, and coordinate the application with an appropriately qualified and authorised professional.

Who it is for

  • Founders choosing a company or product name
  • Businesses with an established name that has never been registered
  • Researchers and institutions branding a programme, product or platform
  • Professionals building a practice or personal brand

What is included

  1. Preliminary trademark search

A search of the trade marks register for identical and similar marks in the relevant classes, with a short written note on the conflicts we find and how serious they appear.

  2. Brand and mark assessment

Names that simply describe a product are harder to register and to enforce than distinctive ones. We assess where your proposed mark sits on that spectrum and what could make it stronger.

  3. Class selection

Trademarks are registered for specified goods and services, grouped into classes. We help you choose the classes that genuinely match your business now and in the foreseeable future.

  4. Application coordination

We prepare the information and documents needed for the application. The filing itself is handled by an appropriately qualified and authorised professional, and you will know who is acting before anything is filed.

  5. Renewal and monitoring coordination

Coordination of renewals and of follow-up work after filing can be discussed as part of your engagement. Ask about this when you enquire.

How an engagement runs

  1. Stage 01

    Brand briefing

What the mark is, what it is used for, and where it is used or will be.

  2. Stage 02

    Search and assessment

Register search, distinctiveness review and a written note on risks.

  3. Stage 03

    Strategy

Word mark, logo or both; the classes; the applicant.

  4. Stage 04

    Application

Filed through an appropriately authorised professional, coordinated by us.

  5. Stage 05

    Follow-up

Examination reports, any opposition and later renewal, coordinated as agreed.

Stages describe the usual shape of the work. Timelines depend on the scope and, for filings, on the relevant office; no stage has a guaranteed duration or outcome.

Important to know

About professional roles

Dr. R. Renuka Devi is a Registered Indian Patent Agent. Patent agent registration concerns patent matters and is not a trademark agent registration. Trademark filings and any representation before the Trade Marks Registry are handled by an appropriately qualified and authorised professional, with Shinelex Oceanus coordinating the work.

A search reduces risk; it does not remove it

Registration is decided by the Registry after examination, and an application may be opposed by others. A clear search is a good sign, not a guarantee.

What to have ready

  • The mark itself — the word, and the logo file if there is one
  • A description of the goods or services it is used for
  • The applicant’s details (individual, partnership, company or institution)
  • The date the mark was first used in India, if it is already in use

Fee

₹10,000

Your final quotation depends on the scope, complexity and requirements of the work. Whether official (government) fees and taxes are included is stated in writing in your quotation before any work begins.

Questions

Should I register the name or the logo?

They protect different things. A word mark protects the name itself; a logo registration protects the particular graphic. Many businesses start with the word mark. We discuss what suits your situation.

Can I use my brand before it is registered?

Often, yes — but a search before you invest in signage, packaging or a website reduces the risk of having to rebrand later.
