Biography
Dr. R. Renuka Devi is a dental academic, periodontist, researcher, inventor and Registered Indian Patent Agent, with a background that spans dentistry, psychology, biomedical research and intellectual property.
Across nearly two decades in dental academia she has built her career around scientific research, postgraduate mentoring and advancing oral healthcare. She is a Professor in Periodontology at K.S.R. Institute of Dental Science and Research, Tamil Nadu, and holds a Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontology and Oral Implantology alongside a Master of Science in Psychology.
Her interest in intellectual property grew out of first-hand research. Having guided research that progressed into a patent application, and contributed to innovations in natural oral healthcare formulations, she knows how easily an idea born in a laboratory, a clinic or a classroom can go unprotected — and what it takes to protect it.
As a Registered Indian Patent Agent she brings that research-led perspective to patent work, helping researchers, inventors, startups and institutions move from an idea to an appropriate form of protection.
She also contributes to intellectual property awareness through invited lectures, faculty development programmes, hands-on workshops and other educational initiatives, helping innovators recognise the potential in their work and understand the routes available to protect it.
