Where ideas find their anchor.

Shinelex Oceanus exists to bridge the gap between innovation and intellectual property — so that researchers, inventors and businesses can approach their ideas with clarity, confidence and a sense of direction.

Why the practice exists

Many good ideas are never protected — not because they lacked merit, but because no one asked the right question in time. A research finding is published before anyone considers a patent. A product goes on show before its design is registered. A name is printed on packaging before anyone checks the register.

Shinelex Oceanus was founded to close that gap. The practice brings a scientist’s understanding to intellectual property: reading an invention as a researcher would, then explaining the available routes to protection in plain language.

The name holds the idea. At its centre — highlighted in gold in the mark — is Lex, the Latin word for law, set between light and the ocean: the structure that gives an idea a safe course towards its horizon.

Why scientific understanding matters

A patent specification must describe an invention clearly enough for a skilled person in the field to put it into practice, and its claims are measured against everything that came before. Doing that well is part legal craft and part scientific reading.

Shinelex Oceanus is led by a dental academic and researcher who has guided research into a patent application and contributed to innovations in natural oral healthcare formulations. That experience is why the practice has a particular strength with research-driven ideas from laboratories, clinics and universities — and why it takes care to explain, not just to file.

How we work

  1. Understand the science first

Protection follows understanding. We take the time to grasp what an invention does and why it matters before deciding how to describe or protect it.

  2. Candour about outcomes

Registration is decided by the relevant office, never by us. We say so, and we tell you when we see a weakness — including when filing may not be worth it.

  3. Confidentiality by design

Unprotected ideas are fragile. We ask for general information first and agree how technical details will be shared before you send them.

  4. The right professional for each task

Patent filings are handled by a Registered Indian Patent Agent. Where other qualifications are required, the work is done by someone who holds them — and you are told who.

  5. Explain, don’t mystify

Intellectual property has its own vocabulary. We translate it, so that you can make your own decisions with confidence.
